This is a difficult one! I don’t think it’s the case that teenagers act ‘older’. They are at a time in their lives where they are supposed to be trying new things and becoming independent, so that they can manage by themselves as adults. This is because the changes in the brain make teenagers more likely to explore new things, but because they have less experience with the world, they are more likely to make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from those risks for the future.
