This is a difficult one to answer! It depends a lot on the situation, if you are with friends or know they feel about an action in a particular way, they have a strong influence on teenagers’ behaviour. But, we also know that when teenagers are with older people (your parents or other adults) they are less likely to take risks. So, whether your friends influence you depends on how much time you spend with your friends. When teenagers are together, friends can have a very powerful effect on risk taking behaviour. For example, crime and drug use during this period is higher for young people who have friends who are involved in crime or drugs, which can have a knock on effect at home.On the other hand, research has shown that if teenagers are shown that their friends are really interested in positive activities (like raising money for charity) then they are more likely to want to do these kinds of things. Sorry I can’t give you an actual percentage, but usually it is quite a lot!
