At the moment – in the atmosphere, unfortunately

Ideally, we’d not produce as many carbon emissions in the first place by using renewable energies etc!

If we have the right balance of trees to carbon dioxide being produced then the trees can convert it into oxygen. Unfortunately at the moment we have more CO2 being produced than the trees can convert!

At the moment it is released in the air. Carbon is one of the components of our atmosphere (0.04%) alongside other gases like oxygen and nitrogen. Small amounts of carbon are crucial for the existence of life on earth, but in large amounts it leads to the atmosphere temperature rising (aka global warming).

A lot of the carbon we use returned back the air around us and eventually makes its way into the atmosphere. This can create a lot of issues when there is too much carbon being pumped into the atmosphere and why we are seeing the effects of climate change!
